I am requesting a variety of materials for my students to use during our last hour of social skills class. I am always struggling to find ways to engage my students- so I usually let them depict what's best for them. Right now- what's working for them- playing games together on their Chromebooks.
This project is completely picked out by the students in my social skills class- they are requesting these items to be able to play games together.
In all the time I've worked with students with behaviors (which is what I do- I work at a Level 4- Behavioral School within the public schools)- I've found the best way to learn to coexist and get along with one another is to play games. Games involve a lot of strategies, communicating with one another, and learning to work together as a team.
These materials will also help motivate my students- I use 8th hour for students to catch up when they're done with their work- and if they're done- they can play computer games together as a reward- the materials I'm requesting- controllers, gaming mice, and headphones- will help motivate them to get their work done- and making free time more appealing to them. This project will greatly support my students' needs- and help them learn to get along with one another through games and fun!
