Social Seating for Emotional Learning

My Project

Flexible seating (bar table seating) invites social-emotional learning (SEL) by empowering students to choose how and where they learn best, helping them develop self-awareness, independence, and responsibility. It naturally encourages communication, collaboration, and empathy as students share spaces and work together. Using the bingo board, The SEL Toolbox: Social-Emotional Learning Activities to Teach Kids to Generalize Learned Skills to Real-Life Situations, Feelings Coloring Book for Kids, and the SEL Notebook for teens will encourage students to learn vital skills for self-regulation! While I’ve made great strides in building an inclusive and flexible classroom, the space is still very bare, not because of a lack of resources, but because I haven’t had enough time to fully decorate. This summer, my top priority is to transform the room into a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment where all students can thrive emotionally and academically.
