This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A bright colorful rug would create a cleaner, vivid, and inviting work space for my students. We use the rug throughout the entire day: during read alouds, lessons, class discussions, community meetings, and independent work time.
I teach a wonderful group of Fourth graders at a rural, Title I elementary school.
More than 50 percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunch. My classroom is one that is diverse in learning styles, cultures, and interests. It is the varied backgrounds of my students that evokes wonderful classroom discussions and allows my students to learn from their peers perspectives respectfully.
My Project
We need a large area rug to conduct group discussions and listen to read alouds. The new classroom rug will allow all my students to realize the unique contributions their classmates have to share during read alouds because we will have a sitting area where we can all meet at. It will also provide them with a place to return to while working independently.
I want to provide my students with a bright beautiful learning environment, a place where they love to come to each day.
With your help my students will be connected to the social network they have within the classroom.
