Social Literacy: Books for Students with Asperger's Syndrome

My students need 24 books for use in our Learning Center, a space where they come for enrichment activities, social skills workshops, and cool down times during periods of challenging behavior.

This project is fully funded

We are a special education inclusion program for students with autism in a low income community in California.

Our students experience Asperger's Syndrome; they have challenges with self-regulation, gross and fine motor skills development, communication and developing social skills.

We need books for our Learning Center, a space where our students come for social skills workshops, sensory breaks and enrichment learning activities. Because the academic environment can become overwhelming for students with our learning profile, we provide a space to regroup, participate in facilitated peer interactions, and continue learning in a quieter and less distracting space.

The books you purchase will be used as part of our social learning curriculum. They will also be available for students to read when they need to regulate their behavior outside the classroom environment. Our Learning Center Library is a needed part of our program for students with autism. Thanks for your support!
