My Project

I teach twenty-four- and five-year-old students in a public school located in a rural area in the Southern part of MS. I have noticed some of the students enter my Pre-Kindergarten classroom with difficulties transitioning to what is known as “Big School”. They are nonverbal, illustrations lack details, and they would rather play alone. With that said, navigating social situations and building positive relationships are difficult tasks to master. With the materials requested, such as literature that focuses on emotions, games, charts, and buddy builders, to name a few, these resources will foster friendships, communication with others, reduce behavior, and build confidence for success.

Being able to socialize is a key component when participating in cooperative learning groups, resolving conflicts, and building friendships, all of which are a part of successfully meeting the objectives and standards required for the Pre-K program, MS Beginnings.
