My Students: I teach 15 energetic Pre-K kiddos that are very curious and love making connections to stories when read aloud. This wonderful bunch attend a Title 1 school, in a critical needs area in the state of Mississippi. This area is low-income, offer no fun after school programs that will allow students to explore their interests such as dance, art, drama, and music just to name a few. When at school, this is the only time my students are able to express themselves through various types of writing, and respond to literature heard using drawings, art supplies, and music. I love listening to my students' writing and hearing them explain their illustration(s) happily with a smile! This not only strengthens my belief in learning by doing but builds confidence in my students and their achievement. My Pre- kindergarteners are able to make self to text/world connections, and incorporate their interests.
