Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at a Title 1 school in South Phoenix, Arizona. Many students struggle to regulate their emotions in and out of school. They are impacted due to traumas at home and coronavirus.

Our school has implemented restorative practices to help students access tools to help regulate their emotions.

They need additional school support to help with their social-emotional skills. Having a calming corner in the classroom allows my students a space to step away from their desks to calm down and reflect on what they are feeling. The wobble stools, fidgets, and Little Spot books will be included in the calming corner.

Students' learning is impacted when they can not properly regulate and manage their emotions. These products will allow my students to refocus in a calming area helping them to make better choices.
