This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have a range of disabilities, from Autism and ADHD, to depression, anxiety, and even undiagnosed conditions that present in various (usually) dysfunctional ways. I need materials that will help them to connect with peers, with themselves, and with the world and society in general.

Having these materials will help me to reach some of the most challenging students and make social-emotional situations less scary because they will have exposure and practice with tools that they can apply in real time.

These materials are game and light-hearted conversation based, which will help these children to approach topics and behavior that they may not be comfortable talking about in an upfront way, which typically causes them to shut down.

I want my students to succeed not just in school but throughout their life, no matter where life takes them. I don't want them to say that no one ever helped them or that no one cared about them.
