This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kids are determined, bright, and resilient. They face challenges head on and never ever give up. The kids I work with on a daily basis come from a variety of backgrounds. They often come to my office to take a break, re-focus, and return to class ready to learn. I strive to make my office a safe space where they can share their feelings, hopes, and dreams.
Funding this project will help me teach students important social emotional skills and anger management techniques.
My Project
As the School Social Worker, I often push into classroom to work on social emotional skills with a whole class. This allows me to teach a lesson to several children all at once and have a whole class discussion after the lesson is completed. The art materials will be utilized to complete an activity after we read the stories. These art projects center around being a good friend, listening to others, and being respectful.
Social emotional learning is a skill that young children need to be successful in life beyond the classroom.
Funding this project will allow me to utilize new materials for my whole-classroom social emotional lessons.
