Help me give my students a sense of control on their social emotional skills! Through these colorful books and their short stories, they will learn that it's okay to feel the way they do but let's communicate appropriately.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom setting provides services to students whose educational and developmental needs require additional adult support to access the curriculum. My little learners are on different ends of the spectrum and for most, their learning disabilities vary.
Many of my students are learning to communicate or are unable to as of yet; therefore, it is a priority as a special education teacher to find different ways to understand them and to slowly but surely teach them different ways to be understood.
Reading, modeling and repetition are strategies that I use daily to foster communication in my classroom. My little learners need visual, auditory and kinesthetic cues to help them absorb information. Through these fun and colorful illustrations, direct and short stories, my students will learn about positive behavior, good manners and first words. We will read, model and role play these stories to support them with their social emotional skills. Llama llama is a big part of our first unit of study, we could use his doll as our classroom Mascot or our friend during pretend play!
All children learn differently, I would like to provide a variety of social emotional examples to help them navigate through their feelings.
