Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As we know, mental health is as important as ever. With everything children have been through, we know how important it is to take care of them and their mental health. That is why I wanted to become a school social worker and help my students be successful. I have many things in my project to help my students learn copying strategies that will benefit them into adulthood. Fidgets, or what I like to call them, calm-down tools, help my students who have sensory needs. But they also teach all students that it is okay to use fidgets as tools to calm our bodies.
The social-emotional board games help some of my younger students develop an awareness of emotions and how they feel in their bodies in order to learn what they can do to help their bodies feel better.
The bean bag and headphones I am requesting are there for my calm-down area, which is a very important part of my job. When emotions get too high (in the red zone), they need a place to regulate and my calm-down corner.
The batteries are needed to keep the tools I already have functional so students can continue to access what they need in my office.
