My Project

My students are amazing troopers! These students have been through a pandemic, where they were forced to quarantine at home away from their friends and normal way of life. This pandemic has caused a lot of different trauma for the students and their families. Some examples of the types of trauma that students have dealt with are being left alone for longs periods of time as their parents work. Having to take care of their siblings as well as attend virtual classes while their parents are at work. Having to navigate their attention span of being in different learning environments that could have contributed to their lack of attention. Being left to have the option of doing what they are supposed to do or doing what they choose to do.

After the traumatic effects of the pandemic, students are more susceptible to traumatic behavior responses.

I am looking to give my students and myself some access to techniques to help us deal with our trauma and trauma responses. I would like to accomplish this through mindfulness practices, art therapy, and mental health education.

Teachers across the nation have developed curriculums that can help students with their mental health, social emotional learning, and art therapy. I would like to purchase a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card so that I can purchase these curriculums for the students and start implementing them in class.
