This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are full of life and always willing and excited to learn. By providing them with flexible seating and books to support their social-emotional well-being, they can be exposed to various supports while feeling comfortable. My classroom includes a range of mild-to-moderate disabilities. I want to help my students reach their greatest potential, while they enjoy learning and feel confident about themselves.

I teach at a very diverse (many students who are refugees), low-income Title I school in San Diego, California where 100% of students participate in a free or reduced-price lunch program.

My students are very grateful for all they have and I strive to create a classroom environment that is a "safe space" for learning and growing.

My Project

This project will provide wobble chairs and social-emotional books to help with movement, flexible seating, and learning appropriate social skills. These are beneficial for my students to use during independent and small group work.

By having more flexible seating options, my students will feel more confident and comfortable during their learning.

My students benefit from movement breaks and having the ability to learn with various seating options. My students look forward to the opportunities when they can use stools, wobble chairs, scoop rockers, or seat cushions and to feel more responsible for their learning and the way in which they learn best. The flexible seating options and picture books will help provide visual supports to foster their social-emotional growth.
