Here at our school, we definitely have the best students! Our amazing kiddos have a variety of special needs from physical, mental, and academic challenges they face each day. They require help with social emotional needs and during a time of Covid and changing schedules, our goal is to bring awareness on how to cope with those needs and how to use tools to help them.
My Project
Our district is learning more about SEL (Social Emotional Learning) and how to implement these ideas within the classrooms. Our school is going through a Professional Development called Restorative Practice. This is a chance for us to restore relationships with students, parents, and each other after a challenging year.
Our goal for our classrooms is to incorporate yoga throughout each week to integrate necessary tools of breathing and stretching skills that allow students to channel their negatives, frustrations, over excitements into a calming yoga pose.
This will also give us as the teachers a chance to grow with the students, we will being doing yoga with them and building our relationships with the students.
So, let's give these amazing kiddos the tools they need to learn how to keep calm and grow their thoughts and relationships in a positive direction.
