This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting will be used for art projects that will build compassion, cultivate a strong classroom community, and teach students how to manage emotions. Teaching Social Emotional Learning through art allows for opportunities of Social Awareness, allowing my students the opportunity to develop the ability to take perspectives and empathize with people from culturally diverse backgrounds. I love to teach SEL in art because it is allowing students the opportunity to express themselves and also explore SEL through mediums, materials, and drawings. I will measure the success of my students' understanding of compassion through their demonstrated acts of kindness and supportive behavior towards their peers inside and outside of our classroom.
