Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are my inspiration. My kindergarten classroom consists of 25 children from all different backgrounds. I have a large percent of beginner English language learners. The rest of my class consists of students with special needs and general education students.

More importantly my students are funny, energetic, creative, frustrated, shy, silly, curious, but most of all resilient.

All the diversity makes for a great teaching experience, but it also makes it difficult to meet the various needs of the students in my classroom.

Every morning I start fresh and do my best to reach the needs, whatever they may be, of each child. My school has a very large population of low, socio-economic students. My school is a Title I school. Many of the children live in shelters and live in large multi-generational households. It would be awesome to give all these children the opportunity to meet their optimal potential.

My Project

All of my kindergarten students have been through a lot these last 18 months. It is extremely important to support our children emotionally while teaching them curriculum. My focus for the upcoming school year is to positively impact the lives of my students and provide them with the skills to understand and manage their emotions.

Puppet Play gives children the opportunity to express what they are feeling, stimulate imagination, encourage creative play, enhance speech and language, as well as; providing social-emotional support.

The kid puppet set and the alphabet puppet set will bring the puppet theater to life.

Hopefully with your donations and support, my students will be able to recover, learn, and thrive with the help of this puppet center.
