The SEL items and materials requested will be divided between rooms across the building, ensuring access for all students. The fidgets will go into boxes used in our Calm Corners and Reset Stations, any time a student takes a scheduled break or needs time to reset before joining the class. The weighted items will be utilized for students feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Items with keychains will be able to stay with students as they move throughout the building, increasing their ability to complete work in their assigned space while still having the comfort of a sensory item. Posters, books, balance tools, and breathing exercises will be utilized in my office during one-on-one SEL lessons and small group activities.
The donations to this project will afford all students the ability to practice and increase their social emotional skills throughout the building.
Having these materials in each classroom will encourage students to be mindful of their feelings and emotions through practicing appropriate responses.
