Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My early childhood classroom is composed of 22 amazing Spanish/English bilingual learners. My classroom needs materials and supplies that support the artistic, social emotional, and pre-literacy development of young learners. Our school district has a high number of children living in poverty and has a diverse population of students from different backgrounds. Our school has a large number of English language learners and students who receive free or reduced-price school lunch. Please support my classroom by helping my students have access to classroom materials and supplies that will enhance their educational experiences.

My Project

My students need access to classroom materials that support their social-emotional learning through books, meaningful activities, and the creation of safe spaces in the classroom. Social emotional learning is important for children, as they will develop the skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, gain empathy for others, and build relationships. These skills are essential in order to apply them in school and in life.

The project materials will enhance our classroom safe space area, which is a thinking and calming space for students' self-regulation skills.

This area is also the classroom library and is a safe environment for students to play, learn and grow. The variety of social emotional books will complement the tree bookshelf that will complete the safe space area. The books will focus on self-control and learning to get along with peers. The mood and emotions mirrors and match up puzzles will assist my students explore emotions and physical characteristics, as they develop social emotional skills.

The project also includes an adjustable easel stand that will be used to place large books and easel paper across the classroom. The large tree bulletin board will become the classroom Kindness tree, where students will display acts of kindness in the classroom. Thank you for supporting the social emotional and academic growth of my students.
