My Project

At our school, we serve more than 700 students who come from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are proud to be a Title I school, where the majority of our students face significant economic challenges. While our students bring incredible strengths, talents, and resilience, they also experience high levels of stress, trauma, and social-emotional needs that impact their ability to thrive academically and personally.

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a cornerstone of success, teaching students how to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and develop the resilience needed to persevere through challenges.

These skills are just as important as reading, writing, and math—and yet, access to the tools and resources needed to teach them effectively is limited in schools like ours.

Some examples of SEL tools we would be able to bring into our school include:

-Calming tools such as fidgets and sensory items.

-Mindfulness cubes and cards to help students converse and get to know each other.

-Visual supports and posters that remind students of coping strategies, positive affirmations, and ways to manage conflict.

These resources will not only help students in moments of stress or frustration, but they will also build lifelong skills in empathy, cooperation, and problem-solving. Teachers will be better equipped to support their students, classrooms will become more inclusive and supportive, and our entire school culture will benefit.
