This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from different types of backgrounds. Many of my students are the first generation who attends high school and desire an opportunity to improve their family and community. My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances to grow both personally and academically. Honestly, they are my inspiration!

COVID-19 has changed the way we live, socialize, work, and do school.

I miss my students, and I miss going to school each day. I worry that my students are not learning what they should be learning. I fear that my students are not getting enough support to deal with their social-emotional learning. In regular school days, students can access these supports with teachers, counselors, social workers, and nurses.

My Project

There are so much stress and anxiety in today's world. It is impossible to learn while dealing with strong emotions, stressful life events, or when your family life is under strain. My goal in this project is to reach out to families and students who are struggling with the impact of life's stress, promote healthy coping skills, and provide tools for strengthening mental health. Every material in this project will work together to create a social-emotional kit for families to take home for a time. I want to provide the mindful game activity cards for my students, so they have opportunities to interreact with his/her family members, friends, classmates, and others.

This project will help to build student awareness of positive mental health.

If students are feeling overwhelmed and fatigued, they do not have the drive and energy they need to be successful. By focusing on their positive mental health, students will gain a better understanding of their personal needs. The benefits of positive mental health got in high school will carry on with my students throughout their lives. They will learn the skills needed to be able to handle stressful situations when they are older. As an educator, we focus on making sure they leave out of here with all the right tools to help them in life. This tool could provide just the right need to help a student be successful and go on the right path in life.
