This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students never seize to amaze me with their resilience and enthusiasm to learn. I teach a Preschool for All Learners class. My students have developmental delays, with different strengths and abilities. They are a mixture of inquisitive minds and artistic talent, and just love to learn.

My Project

My students with different abilities struggle to grasp what emotions they are feeling and how to express them. I want to give my students the tools that they need to learn about different emotions and feelings in a way that is accessible to them. Through the use of books which show wonderful visual representations, my hope is that my students will be able to begin to understand their own emotions. With the added benefit of creating representations of themselves, my students will be able to participate in social emotional learning during dramatic play as they explore their differences and similarities. The sensory items will help provide my students with options when they are feeling overwhelmed and need an outlet.
