Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There's something about teaching individual's with special needs. It's a feeling that is hard to describe but I will do my best to convey it through text. That genuine smile and look of pride from your student when they finally accomplish a task that they have been working on for weeks is comparable to the feeling of jubilation and exuberance. The students in my Middle School Life Skills classroom give myself and all who work with them those feelings every day of the year.

The amount of effort and energy my students put into their every day lives is amazing.

They work so hard to accomplish the goals that their parents, teachers, and even themselves have set for them. I want to nurture their drive and push them to want the best for themselves, and hope that it will generalize to their lives after they leave my classroom.

My Project

Social/Emotional learning is so important for healthy development. Students need to be well versed in how to manage and identify their emotions, practice health and safety, and generalize these skills across different domains.

SEL and safety skills are necessary for my students and in order to access the main ideas of these skills, they need a little extra help.

These tools and manipulatives will help my students gain more knowledge about SEL and safety so that they can use them in their every day lives. We don't just want these skills to be used in school. We want these skills to be used at home and in the community as well.
