Social Emotional Learning Center and Calming Tent

Help me give my students a cozy area with a tent and stuffed animals to help regulate their emotions and sensory toys to work on fine motor skills, learning about their feelings, strength exercises and much more!

My Project

I have a wonderful group of ten students with moderate to extensive needs. The purpose of my project is to create a safe space inside the classroom that provides students with an opportunity to ground themselves and work on a calm body.

The tent will provide a tranquil space where students can get away from the hustle and bustle of the classroom environment and escape to a more secluded area when needed.

The area will be filled with sensory toys and materials to help children learn more about how to regulate their emotions and provide a safe place to feel calm. For example, there will be emotion sensory bottles and dolls in the tent to help students identify how they feel.
