This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We all need to get moving and shaking! Jump ropes will help us get physical in a positive way. Toss and Catch games are a great way to improve eye-hand coordination, and these games are so colorful and fun! Even the appearance says, “Play with me!” Helping children to jump while they sing chants and rhyming jump songs helps the brain to retain information… and it works the gross motor muscles, as well. At our school, we have introduced “Cougar Cash,” to encourage positive social behavior and emotional support. We have introduced a student store this year, but it is slightly empty at this time. We are hoping to support our students socially and emotionally with incentive rewards.

All students and staff are working to improve our school climate while supporting social and emotional growth, so we are introducing “Cougar Cash” that children can use to spend at the school’s student store.

The students save their “Cougar Cash” to purchase something to get them moving, like jump ropes or balls, or something to hold like fidget spinners or squishy toys.

We have 350 students and a number of new staff. These incentives help us with promoting respect, getting to know each other, and learning to get along. It teaches financial literacy and responsibility. And the rewards help us with physical growth and eye-hand coordination.

As a school, we have just started our COUGAR CASH, which will reward children for exceptional positive social and emotional behavior. If you can help us fill the store with high-interest items such as slime and bubble wands , we hope to motivate our children to improve their social behavior and our school climate.
