Social Emotional Counseling Classroom

Help me give my students a calm and safe environment to grow in their social-emotional learning. The lighting and cushions will provide a relaxing atmosphere, while the games and fidgets will encourage students to engage.

My Project

In our Title I middle school, students face daily challenges that often extend beyond the classroom. Many of them are navigating academic pressure, peer dynamics, trauma, and stress — all while trying to discover who they are and where they belong. As school counselors, we strive to create a space where they feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow emotionally and socially.

This project will help transform our counseling space into a calming and engaging environment by adding soft lighting and interactive social-emotional learning games.

The fluorescent lights in our building can feel harsh and overstimulating, especially for students who are anxious or overwhelmed. Gentle, flexible lighting will help create a peaceful atmosphere that encourages reflection, openness, and healing.
