They're collaborating more, expressing their feelings with confidence, and using new coping tools during the school day. For many of our middle schoolers, especially in our Title I community, these materials have made a real difference in how they experience school and connect with others.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has a lasting impact far beyond this classroom. Thanks to your contribution of hundreds of healthy and delicious snacks, our summer school was transformed into a vibrant, energized learning environment.\r\n\r\nYour donations directly supported our students as they met the required hours for their HB1416 accelerated tutoring in math or reading. Summer school, even a shortened six-day session, can be incredibly demanding, but having a steady supply of great snacks made a world of difference. Your contributions kept them nourished and focused, helping them stay energized to tackle challenging concepts in both subjects. Instead of energy slumps, our students were consistently engaged, ready to participate in every activity, and excited to deepen their understanding. These snacks weren't just food; they were essential fuel for their brains and spirits.\r\n\r\nThe moment we told students that an organization had donated these specific snacks just for them, their reactions were priceless. One student exclaimed, \"No way!\" when they heard the news. We then heard, \"You got us the good snacks, Ms. Thomson. These bars are fire!\" (referring to the blueberry fig bars, a definite favorite!). Their excitement was immediate and genuine. Having these materials—and seeing they were chosen with care—made them feel truly valued and special. It was a joy to witness their enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nYour snacks fueled our students for our integrated learning approach. For our reading students, we embarked on an exciting book study of the novel *Ghost* by Jason Reynolds**. This fast-paced, character-driven story immediately captured their attention. Students were provided with copies of the novel, and the sheer excitement of having their copy of a new book was palpable. They eagerly followed Castle \"Ghost\" Cranshaw's journey, analyzing his motivations, the relationships he builds with his teammates and coach, and the conflicts he faces. We spent time discussing how Ghost's past experiences influence his present choices and whether he is growing or devolving as a character.\r\n\r\nIn math, students tackled crucial concepts like order of operations and integer operations. Having those energizing snacks available meant they could sustain their concentration through complex problems, whether they were deciphering a multi-step equation or practicing adding and subtracting negative numbers. The consistent energy allowed for deeper focus, reducing frustration, and boosting confidence as they navigated these challenging mathematical rules.\r\n\r\nYour generosity also extended beyond the classroom, touching families at home. We were able to send extra snack bags home with our summer camp students for their siblings and other family members. While some students were a little hesitant to take the extra bags at first, the impact was clear. Families, especially those with younger elementary students, were incredibly grateful. One mother, receiving a bag for her other children, expressed her heartfelt thanks, saying, \"Wow! This is really something. Thank you. Thank you so much.\" Your donation widened its reach, providing comfort to entire households.\r\n\r\nYour support truly made our summer camp a success, providing essential nourishment for engaging learning opportunities, while also bringing a little extra joy to our students' homes. All I can say is thank you, sincerly and greatly, for the assistance; you made a diffence for our kids!","fullyFundedDate":1747572346159,"projectUrl":"project/feed-the-kiddos-a-summer-camp-mission/9363070/","projectTitle":"Feed the Kiddos: A Summer Camp Mission","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thomson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9876909"},{"teacherId":9876909,"projectId":9011446,"letterContent":"I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your generosity has had on our students! Thanks to your donation, our special education students now have STAAR testing-approved calculators, and the difference has been immediate and inspiring.\r\n\r\nWhen we first introduced the calculators, the excitement in the classroom was palpable. Many students were eager to try them out, and you could see their confidence grow as they realized they had a valuable tool to support their learning. The students were very excited that they would be able to practice on the same calculator that would be available to them for end-of-year testing. \r\n\r\nOur students are using these calculators daily, and are much more confident in solving equations for volume and surface area. The calculators are empowering students who once hesitated to participate to engage more, take risks, and feel capable.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our next goal is to prepare for upcoming assessments, using the calculators to strengthen problem-solving skills and build test-taking confidence. Your support has given our students a greater chance to succeed—not just on the STAAR test, but in their overall academic growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a meaningful difference.
