My Project

Help give my students books to help support their social, emotional, and mental well-being. Due to COVID-19, many of my students have not had exposure to interacting with other children their age or early learning experiences such as daycare or preschool. They are still learning how to deal with the challenges you learn in these situations such as how to share, how to have positive interactions, how to make friends, and how to be empathetic.

I will use the My Dragon Book stories to help my students understand their own emotions and feelings, and help them overcome social and emotional obstacles and challenges in order to learn to be better every day.

The My Dragon Books series by Steve Herman is full of valuable life lessons that kids will absorb in a fun and effortless way. In each story, the character Drew helps his dragon overcome different real-life challenges(that children face every day) in a healthy and productive way. Children learn, alongside Diggory Doo, about how to deal with social-emotional issues such as controlling anger, making mistakes, overcoming anxiety, learning manners, telling the truth, making friends, showing empathy, and more. I will use the size, shapes, and color sorting games to help my students learn these concepts that they have not been exposed to or do not understand yet. I will also use the toys and materials to teach my students how to sort and compare objects by size, shape, color, and function.
