Social Emotional and Phonics To Grow

My Students

Our school is a Title I school in a rural community. The school is 100% free or reduced-price lunch with a free after-school program to help with homework (pre-Covid) and provide extra time for computer use as most do not have the Internet at home. Our class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities The students are hard-working. Most of the students in my third-grade class read below grade level by two years.

The class is made up of mostly low income families.

Students receive backpack buddies for the weekend. Despite these circumstances, they continue to make growth in their education. Most will increase reading levels by 2 to 4 levels throughout the year.

My Project

My students need Social Emotional skills to grow into better students and in society. These writing response will give us direction in class to various discussions and writing experiences.

As Phonics is a big issue for my students, these phonics resources and games will help my students.

My students will love the Phonics Fun Wheels to practice skills and have fun at the same time. The Vocabulary center will give them a hands-on way to their more practice with new vocabulary. I think they will have fun with the match and sort skills game as well.
