Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing group of middle schoolers with special needs. Our school is located in a suburban area just outside of New Orleans. We are an ethnically diverse campus with students from all over the world.
My students inspire me everyday with their intelligence, creativity, and perseverance.
They love to learn, but also know how to have fun. My kiddos love to draw, play soccer, use the computer, and, of course, eat LOTS of pizza! The main goal of my classroom is to arm my students with the academic, social, and communication skills they will need to have full and happy lives that are led as independently as possible.
My Project
The materials requested will help my students to grow socially, emotionally, and academically. A new iPad will be invaluable to our class. Students can download educational apps including personal libraries and phonics, math, and science programs. They can also download games to play with peers to help develop their social and communication skills.
My kiddos are all so special and need special, individualized materials to help them reach their full potential.
The workbooks requested will help my students meet their individual goals. Some of these goals are related to academics, but others are related to social skills and emotional regulation. It is so important to develop all parts of our students' brains so they can grow up to be well-rounded adults.
