My Students
My second-grade class is made of 27 amazing children. They range in diversity and ability. Some are autistic, and many receive special education services. We are a Title I school, and all of my students are from low-income households, so they all receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
Though their backgrounds have offered them little advantage, my students love learning, and they work very hard each day.
Their creativity inspires both myself and each other. I am consistently humbled by their tenacious spirits, their loving hearts, and their curiosity about the world.
My Project
We return to in-person learning in November. Because of COVID restrictions, students will not be allowed in the coat closet to hang backpacks, but those backpacks will still come to school each day. To tackle this storage dilemma, I am requesting crates and a bookshelf. Each student will have their own crate to hold backpacks, jackets, lunch bags, and other items from home. Those crates will be stored on the bookshelf, and students can visit the bookshelf at separate times in order to maintain social distancing.
I realize this may not be the most exciting project to support, but having an organized, safe way to store students' items will make returning to in-person learning so much easier.
