This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In this quick changing time of social distancing, I want to be as prepared as I can for my students and what will happen next year. Most of my students were very confused and struggled to make connections during crisis teaching and learning.
While working on a variety of models for what school will look like in the fall, I’d like to create visual learning books and journals.
Many of my students have additional challenges that impact their education; these materials would greatly improve their engagement and school experiences in a positive way.
My Project
These materials will be used for students to engage in distance or hybrid learning in the fall. By creating and using visual art journals for students, we’ll have equitable learning materials to be engaged and accountable for their learning. These can be used in the classroom as well as at home and will provide students a special space for their art notes, journaling, and art creations and research. Distance learning has proven to be frustrating and difficult for our kinesthetic learners; the journals will help them to be organized and ready with the tools to be successful.
