My Students

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist with Edmond Public Schools who serves children ages 3 through 5th grade. My students come from all kinds of different backgrounds and experiences. They are all qualified for Special Education with a need to target a specific communication difficulty, delay or disorder.

I serve students with difficulty in the areas of articulation, language (including pragmatic language & social skills), voice and fluency (stuttering).

We have several children with Autism who receive services to target social skills.

We target pragmatic language and social skills from the perspective of social thinking. Skills are taught explicitly and directly with opportunities for role-playing, peer interaction and generalization in the school environment. This enables students to think about others and recognize the motivation or intent during an interaction.

This conference would be extremely beneficial to my professional development to better serve my students!

My Project

Dr. Temple Grandin is a world-renowned autism spokesperson, scientist, and inventor. She has served as an inspiration and role model to hundreds and thousands of families and persons with autism. In this unique presentation, Dr. Grandin eloquently and candidly describes the challenges SHE faces and offers glimpses into her own childhood, with ideas on how others dealing with autism can meet these obstacles and improve their quality of life. Backed by her personal experience and evidence-based research, Dr. Grandin shares her valuable insights on all types of thinkers, why they are important, and ways in which young people can continue to think about and understand what it means to be innovative.
