Social and Emotional Resources For A New School Counseling Program

My Project

My heart and passion are health and wellness for the whole person! As an educator and school counselor I am committed to providing my students with just this.

I believe that relationships are at the heart of an effective school counseling program and would love the support as my school creates a brand new program.

Every child has different strengths, learning styles, and needs both academically and emotionally. The markers, pens, sticky notes, and journals will be used for one-on-one counseling sessions with students as well as in small groups. With these materials, I will be able to teach hands-on lessons based on what needs arise (self-esteem groups, anger management, grief groups, coping skills, social & emotional habits, etc.). The sticky notes, pens, shredder, dry erase pockets and magnets will also be used for one-on-one and small group lessons on how to manage and cope with difficult emotions and working toward changing thought patterns. The conversational cubes, Jenga (which I will write questions on) and stress balls will provide conversation starters when meeting with students one-on-one or in small groups. Since I will be moving around to classrooms to teach lessons, having the rolling utility cart will allow me to be more mobile and cart my materials from classroom to classroom. I will be using the spot of emotion spots as visuals to the books that coordinate with them. The inspirational wall prints and posters will be used within my office and around the campus to promote positive self-esteem, and social and emotional awareness, as well as outline my office objectives and commitment. All materials will be used to collaborate with staff and students to support academics and social and emotional needs within and out of the classrooms.
