My Project
Many students come to school without the skills to express how they are feeling. Currently, they struggle to view emotions in others, recognize the feelings within themselves and help others when they have big feelings. Students will have explicit hands on experiences to learn, play, grow and develop a positive mindset.
My students have a variety of special education needs and the goals for this project will help support their ability to collaborate, learn social skills and recognize and identify their own emotions.
My students want to learn, they want to connect. With these tools, they will be able to experience social scenarios in a safe resource setting that they can apply in their lives. The flexible seating, games, lessons, and activities for social learning in this project will help facilitate these lessons and ensure students have repeated opportunities to learn.
The goals for this project include supporting social and emotional learning in our school campus and in my classroom using space floor zones, individual headphones and lessons and games to support learning. I would use these materials to support small group instruction and address specific goals that students have in their IEPs. With donations and support, we can help engage students and ensure they are successful.
