Social And Emotional Literacy

Help me give my students social and emotional resources to help my students transition to in-person learning!

My Students

My students are eager readers! As first graders they make large jumps throughout a school year. They need books that have a sentence on the page to chapter books! They quickly read through books and are always on the search for something new and exciting! My students are located in the North-East section of Philadelphia. We also have a high ESL population. At our school, we have a very large diverse community of students.

My Project

Your support will help my students gain social and emotional support in the classroom. Through amazing authors, such as Peter Reynolds, we will be able to explore topics on different emotions. As first graders, many students are still learning to identify their big emotions and learn how to cope with them. By giving students access to literacy, they are able to see themselves in the characters. In addition, students will learn through the teacher and peers on how to work through big emotions. As we transition to in-person learning, students will experience a lot of change socially and emotionally. These books will help support a smoother transition!
