This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 4th-grade students love soccer. They love talking about soccer, arguing about soccer, and playing soccer. During PE, they create a soccer area using cones, and they love to show off their soccer skills. I want to use this love of soccer to further develop a variety of soccer skills during PE. New soccer balls and flag football belts will help me do this.

Having extra soccer balls will enable my students to practice kicking and passing skills.

They will also be able to use them with the goal nets we already have. Having the opportunity to practice kicking skills will help them as they try to score goals while playing the game. The flag football belts will be used so they can quickly identify players on their team. Oftentimes, my students are confused about who is on their team and who isn't. These flags will keep them focused on who they should be passing to and who they need to cover while playing. Giving my students the opportunity to practice soccer skills while wearing colored flag football belts will let them focus on the game rather than having to worry about passing to the wrong player.

Overall, these soccer balls and belts will encourage more students to play, which can increase their desire to play soccer recreationally or in middle school. The chance to play soccer also helps students build stamina in running while building problem-solving skills as they play.
