My soccer players need 25 pairs of red and 25 pairs of white soccer socks for our 13 game season. They will be reused in coming years.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My soccer team is filled with very enthusiastic young women aged 14-18! This is the very first season of girl's soccer and they are excited about finally having a real team! Our school is in a high poverty area and we have worked for the last 3 years to get an official girl's team up and running. We have coached and played on the co-ed team, had an intramural team, and worked toward this special season for quite a while.
The main obstacle my students face is cost. They must pay for their physical exam (cost varies), activity ticket (up to 60 dollars), and health insurance (58 dollars) if they do not have personal health insurance which most do not. I am trying to help them out by getting soccer socks here, so they will not have to pay additional money just to have a completed uniform.
The solution is simply a few pairs of socks. It may not sound like much but these girls have worked very hard and it would mean a lot to them that someone is supporting this team! My students receive many benefits from soccer. They increase their school connection, make more friends, keep grades up, keep out of trouble, stay in school daily and until graduation, and become more well balanced people with every practice and game that they work together and support each other. These young women are for the most part college-bound because they have seen that anything is possible if you fight for it, and never give up.
Your donation will help these students realize that even though there are many hurdles in life, people help each other out and support each other. You will make it possible for them to look as good as they feel out there on the field, as they wear matching socks that someone gave to them. These girls have already done a lot of fund raising, helping out with signs, and team building. They will see that if they work hard, the benefits of that work are immeasurable.
