Soccer Balls for Soccer Club!
My students need quality soccer balls for our after-school soccer club!
The students of my school's soccer club are extremely passionate about the game of soccer. For many students, soccer is an outlet from many of the trials of their home lives. The school is located in a low income area; where many families are single-parent households. Many of the students are very talented soccer players but lack the resources to compete in a quality soccer environment due to insufficient funds to participate in organized soccer teams. Our soccer club seeks to provide students with the opportunity to participate in a competitive environment.
Our students stay after school for an hour and a half to participate in soccer club two times a week.
Another teacher and I paint the lines for the field for our soccer club students to play on. Again, the vast majority of our families in our area are low income (over 90% free and reduced lunch rate), so many of the students miss out on a high-quality experience when it comes to the game they love so much.
Our soccer club was fortunate enough to receive a set of goals that our students absolutely love! In an effort to further improve the quality of our school's soccer club, we turn our focus to better soccer balls. Many of the soccer balls we do have are either foam balls that are not true soccer balls or are old, worn down, and consistently flat. The soccer balls would improve the quality of the games that we play, which ultimately lead into a culminating event that is a county tournament amongst other middle schools. Improving the quality of games played in our after school program will lead to better play in this tournament and would help our team continue to improve.
