My Students

The school I work in is a Title I school highly impacted by poverty and very low academics. The students in my class are all very excited to learn to read and discover new things. There is also a high diversity of students consisting of mostly English Language Learners who are several grade levels behind.

The resources I hope to bring into my class will not only help my ELL students, but all my students grow in becoming proficient in the English language and become fluent readers.

Due to their low socio-economic status most of my students do not have the resources to buy the material to help them read. My student will really benefit from being able to have access to reading material to take home as well as use in school..

My Project

With the diversity in my classroom, my students come from a variety of backgrounds. Their learning levels also vary from some good readers to some very low readers. Scholastic will be a fun way to get the students excited about reading and keeping that excitement going. They will receive magazines that are fun and engaging! They will be so excited when we read them as a whole class, and do the activities that go with each magazine, and be excited to take them home and share them with family and friends.

Students will beg for more as we explore adventures from our country and places all over the world, as well as learn about science!

Scholastic has informational articles and activities that are current and engaging. Struggling students often lose interest in reading when it is not engaging. Scholastic makes reading fun!
