My Students
Our students find this club/org as an exciting opportunity to find a safe place mentally and physically along with a sense of community with a shared interest to develop and exercise their inherent skill set in technology and engineering/design. Our school has been recognized over the past 3 years as a school of high growth, however, still in need of additional academic and socioeconomic support.
Students from various backgrounds and grades have joined this co-curricular CTSO organization with a shared interest to do something they love, and that is to explore the world of technology and explore solutions to make our society better thru technological improvements/advancements.
Thankfully, starting this year we have secured a partnership with a neighboring university that helps provide support through mentorship and shared resources for tech events. In this inner-city school there are a lot of outside forces that impact how well students can focus in class; however, our club helps build the support needed to transcend this confidence-boosting opportunity to do well in their classes.
My Project
Students will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend their very first technology competitive event on a National level in Atlanta, GA. Students will compete in competitions that they won 1st place in - "Problem Solving" and others that they can re-enter into using the feedback that State competition provided for such as in Technical Design, Junior Solar Sprint, Tech Bowl, Invention & Innovation & more!
This is the first time that our chapter has achieved a 1st place win at the State level and they are excited to move on to the next level to win the ultimate prize - 1st Place at Nationals.
This experience will help develop students zest to be creative and motivate them to excel in all facets of their lives as they apply the organizations' goal - "learning to live in a technological world".
Nearly all students from low‑income households
