My Students

My classroom is full of students who are transitioning from the primary world to the intermediate grades. This is a crucial year, as they are required to take the state test for the first time and be proficient on the English/Language Arts portion of the test in order to be promoted to 4th grade. The demands of technology use in the classroom in order to prepare them for the format of the test require them to have access to computers, tablets, and even chromebooks.

My Project

Having access to a touchscreen device will improve my student's ability to demonstrate mastery of math facts without hesitation caused by the use of a mouse. This will also give me quick access to a behavior system online that not only tracks behavior traits, but also allows me to communicate with parents through a built in messaging system.

This system (Class Dojo) is used by many across the campus and will allow the school to maintain a consistent behavior program.

It also allows me to positively reward my students using the points like money. They then are able to practice balancing an account, which further ties math into their daily lives.
