This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are full of joy, excitement, and an eagerness for learning. I have so much fun teaching and learning with them. Our school is 92% economically disadvantaged and 79% English Learners. My class is a diverse mix of students, including English Learners, students receiving special education services, gifted and talented students, and students from around the world.

My students have unique personalities, and they're all very sweet and caring toward others.

Thank you in advance for helping me provide the best educational experience for my very deserving students.

My Project

Bike-riding is many children's favorite pastime. I would love to provide my students the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike in kindergarten. Riding a bike is something that should be learned at an early age, or it may never be accomplished due to fear or embarrassment. Teaching at a Title 1, high poverty campus means that many of my students may have limited transportation options in their future. Learning how to safely ride a bike can provide them access to otherwise unattainable opportunities.

This project will allow me to teach my students how to ride a bike while abiding by traffic laws and ensuring their safety.

Additionally, I would be able to teach them about the ecological benefits of alternative transportation and the health benefits of daily physical activity. Through an after-school cycling team, students will widen their perspectives and gain a valuable skill that will benefit them for years to come.
