Help me give my students fun treats that they can purchase with their school bucks used to acknowledge positive behaviors. These will help us reinforce positive behaviors, social skills, and delayed gratification.

My Students

Our students are inquisitive, energetic, eager to learn, and oftentimes rambunctious. As elementary school students, they are still learning to navigate the sometimes different cultures and codes of home and school.

We currently serve approximately 600 students, predominantly (98%) African American with a majority coming from households with limited income.

Our school is positioned in a transient community that has seen its share of tragedies which often position our students and families in survival mode. Our motto and goal is to empower all of our students with the grit to be great!

My Project

Having the items that I’m requesting will assist our school in teaching, acknowledging, and encouraging positive behaviors in our students. It is human nature to be motivated both extrinsically and intrinsically. These items will give us another tool to motivate our students leading to them practicing much needed social skills and good decision-making that will ultimately become second nature to them as they grow and learn. As we encourage and increase positive behaviors and social skills, not only are we preparing our students for a successful future, but we will also improve our school culture and climate as an immediate effect. Improved climates lead to improved academics for students and improved working environments for adults. It’s an all-around win.
