My students need 30 blocks of soapstone for their carving unit in sculpture.

Teaching Beginning Sculpture is not easy when you have NO budget for it. I teach students Beginning sculpture at a public high school in Illinois. There are thirty students in the Sculpture class and one teacher, myself.

Many high school students have not worked with sculptural material, with the exception of clay and maybe plaster. Money for materials and tools is extremely limited due to the school's budget problem. Help give my students an experience in Sculpture that they will never forget.

Sculpture class is hard to teach through a book. Most of the techniques are referenced through our Sculpture textbook. The students never get the hands-on experience. When you donate soapstone to our Sculpture class, you are empowering the students by allowing them to create with their hands. Hands-on is the only way to go in the art room.

The soapstone you donate to our Sculpture class will allow the student to work with a material they have never heard of or worked with. Your donation will also help bring the class to another level as far as a finished product the students will be proud of and willing to display.
