This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the great pleasure of teaching a wonderful class of 26 fourth graders in La Puente, California. They are an enthusiastic bunch of learners from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Our school serves a Title 1 student community of 90% free or reduced-price lunch recipients and we have an urgent need of hands-on Science resources and materials to enrich their educational needs. My students will be most appreciative to be able to receive any generous gift of Science materials and resources to make their Science classroom activities come alive and enrich their learning.

My Project

My students are in dire need of these much needed science materials in order to fullest experience hands-on Next Generation Science Standards and STEM science activities. My class is made up of 26 excited, dedicated and hard working diverse learners. Unfortunately, our Title 1 school is often lacking these basic materials to use in class. Often, out of desperation, I have bought my own supplies with no reimbursements or used recycled items donated from parents to use in class activities. Much is needed but not enough is simply available. This situation makes it very difficult for my students to experience engaging science activities.

My students are eager and ready to submerge themselves in engaging high level science activities!

They are inquisitive, risk takers and ready for challenges on a daily basis. In order to expose my students to the new NGSS Science standards, I desperately need these science tools so that my students have a chance to explore, learn about grade level science concepts and just have fun learning. As a teacher, it would be a great joy to see my students have full access to these materials, be active learners and participants and submerge themselves in science every day.
