This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a Special Education teacher who will be teaching 3rd grade this year in an ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) Dual Language classroom setting. Some of my students are English language learners and receive special education services. Students with disabilities who receive ICT services are educated with age appropriate peers in the general education classroom. ICT provides access to the general education curriculum and specially designed instruction to meet students’ individual needs. I work in a Title I Dual Language school in the Bronx. About 90 percent of students in the school are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
I want to make sure that our classroom environment feels both safe and nurturing for their return to in-person learning.
These supplies will be used by 38 third grade students who are eager to learn in a safe and clean environment. Paper towels, disinfectant sprays and cleaners will be important to have in the classroom. My students will be learning in-person, and these supplies will ensure that all of my students are in a safe and sanitized classroom environment.
We know how crucial a clean and safe environment is needed in a classroom. Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces can reduce any remaining germs on surfaces, which can further reduce risk of spreading infection. These supplies will help us tackle the upcoming school year.
