This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love technology, unfortunately our school and class is stuck in the past!

The students in my class come from a high poverty socioeconomic area.

The only way my students can use up to date technology is to have it in the classroom. Families in this neighborhood struggle to get the basic needs for their little ones; they would not be able to purchase items, like an iPad2 for them.

My Project

There is so much that my students will be able to do with an iPad2. There is a whole new world to explore with the iPad2 and applications that would enhance my students learning, not to mention the excitement they would get out of using a NEW technological instrument. They will be able to type their final drafts on it. Use educational applications/software to help them with their reading, reading comprehension, and enhance their math skills.

In order for students to compete in today's world, they need up to date technology, especially for those students who are less fortunate.

We need to narrow the educational gap instead of continuing to widen it by making sure that those who come from high poverty neighborhoods get to experience today's technology and use it as an educational tool.
