My Project
My students have been working so very hard this year to reacclimate themselves to in-person learning. They took every bump in the road in stride and with a smile on their faces.
One of the biggest challenges these students faced was learning the new expectations and routines of a new reading program.
We adopted CKLA at the beginning of the year and the children have truly enjoyed the Knowledge Domains they have experienced. They have done an amazing job learning about many challenging topics, from American tall tales to the ancient civilizations of the Indus Valley, China, and Greece, cycles in nature, insects, and the human body. The books in this project would support their learning in the domain for American Immigration.
I have several children in class that has devoured each and every book I have provided them that relates to the topics we have been discussing through EPIC, an online library free to students during school hours. While my students were provided with all the essentials of this program, there are many wonderful trade books that are suggested throughout the program. I would love to be able to extend their learning and encourage their enthusiasm for learning by providing these texts. While e-books are an amazing resource, I don't believe anything can replace holding an actual book in your hands.
