My Project
Have you ever helped a high school student clean out their backpack? If so, you are probably familiar with the assortment of wrinkled, forgotten worksheets and hand-outs that emerge from the depths of the backpack. In my classroom, students capture their learning in one place - an interactive science notebook.
Science notebooking not only keeps students organized, but is an essential practice for any future scientist!
In their notebooks, students not only record observations of their investigations but also draw models to explain phenomena, make notes on sense-making discussions, and complete formative assessments to check for understanding. I also like for my students to have ready access to everything they need to keep a well-organized notebook - the most essential being glue, so they can keep data tables, graphic organizers and vocabulary cards accessible and organized.
