Snug as a Reader on a Rug

My students need a rug to read comfortably during our reading stations as well as to sit on to listen to read-alouds and to receive direct instruction.

My Students

My first graders are curious and energetic learners. They are willing and ready to learn every morning and always give me their best. They are 21st century learners that love technology, movement, and collaborative learning.

My students love to read and work together on the floor and in all the cozy corners of our room.

My students are hardworking, kind, and compassionate and are growing into wonderful world changers. Each student in my class has a dream and a hope for their future and each one works hard each day to get themselves one step closer to that future.

My Project

This rug will give a specific space for students to sit on during our read to self station. This rug will help provide a warm and inviting environment for young readers. We will also use the rug to gather during morning meetings, reading mini-lessons, and math mini-lessons. This rug will be a central part of our learning community and will provide my students with a specific location to explore books, listen, and collaborate within our classroom. A soft, comfortable, and inviting space increases student engagement and achievement and helps aid students in the process of becoming lifelong learners and readers.
